Joseph J. Banno, M.D.
A native and lifelong resident of Chicago, Dr. Joseph Banno earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, where he majored in biology and biochemistry.
He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Banno completed his general surgery at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois and his residency training in urology at the University of Chicago and Children’s Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Banno joined Peoria Urological Associates in 1980 and is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Among his clinical research and abstracts include hypothermia of the prostate and the efficacy of platelet rich plasma and erectile dysfunction.
In 1992 Dr. Banno founded the Sexual Health and Treatment Center of Illinois and in 1996 he assisted in developing the world’s first mobile ambulatory surgery center.
Dr. Banno is considered one of the top penile implant surgeons in the country.
Since 2000, he has been performing outpatient implant surgeries using Dr. Perito’s minimal invasive approach.
His Sexual Health and Wellness practice includes the most cutting edge and advanced technologies. Along with his specialized care team, he is devoted to healing each patient on an individual basis.
Dr. Banno is married and has six children. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys aviation, skiing, tennis, and hunting.
